Hello Husky Nation! My name is Vanessa Lynch, and I teach 7th and 8th grade ELA at Florence Jr./Sr. High School. In addition, I also serve as the chairperson for the gifted and talented program at the junior high level.

I grew up in sunny Southwest Florida, where I taught ELA and provided gifted services in various Title I schools for 8 years before relocating to Florence, Colorado, during the summer of 2019. I hold a Bachelor's degree from Florida Gulf Coast University in English with a minor in Creative Writing as well as a Master's degree from Western Governors University in Curriculum and Instructional Design.

I am passionate about children's literacy and I have a profound love for all things Harry Potter! I keep a classroom lending library of popular young adult titles, classic literature, graphic novels, and non-fiction for students to check out throughout the school year. My classroom culture is characterized by the warm, inviting, and authentic family-like atmosphere students develop over the course of the school year. This helps students reach their fullest potential by inspiring confidence and critical thinking in all that they do. As most of my family, friends, and students (both former and current) will tell you, teaching is my happy place!
